Fall is the height of the art year, and this season’s enticing selection of gallery and museum shows offer aesthetically exciting works—both for viewing and for collecting.

I’LL REMEMBER YOU: An exhibition by Korean photographer Yeondoo Jung, who was named Artist of the Year for 2007 by the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul. Jung’s photographic work reflects his fascination with old Hollywood movies and TV shows. AN EAR TO THE GROUND: A LOOK AT GLOBAL SHIFTS IN PERSPECTIVE: This photo-inspired group show highlights works from Rhett Turner, Thrush Holmes, Maggie Hasbrouck and Geoff Mitchell, which incorporate photos of his ancestors. Also featured is the IMC and National Geographic’s Photo Camp Exhibition, a show of photos taken by children from Uganda of their daily surroundings. SAM TAYLOR-WOOD EXHIBIT: Images from British photographer Sam Taylor-Wood’s “Crying Men” series, as well as “Peachtree Road,” photos commissioned by Elton John for his album. INSPIRING IMPRESSIONISM: More than 80 works are showcased at the High, including paintings and works on paper drawn from more than 40 museums, in the first comprehensive survey to explore the influence of Old Master painters on Impressionist artists. HENRY BARNES & MARGO BALCEREK: Light-infused and colorful new paintings from Henry Barnes, a Union Point native who draws on his extensive travels for inspiration, and Margo Balcerek, a former landscape architect who translates her knowledge into her landscape paintings. ATLANTA CITYSCAPES: A showcase of landmark works from Anne Irwin Fine Art’s coterie of regional artists, including Dana Johns, Gary Bodner, Dee Beard Dean, Michael McGovern and Miro Sinovcic, who painted scenes from Atlanta’s iconic architecture and landscape, including the Fox Theatre, Piedmont Park, Georgia Aquarium and our evolving skyline.
